Hourly Comics Day happened this year on February 8th! It was a busy day…

Hourly Comics Day - Feb 8 2026 (Sunday) - a strip of black and white comics

Page 1
p1: 8am- catte-jam is asleep in bed. Sunlight is streaming in through the skylight. Satsuki the black cat is standing on them screaming "MEW!!!"

p2: 8:30 - jam slowly peels themselves off the pillow to look at the light streaming through the skylight. jam: "oh... it's actually a nice day today..." cats (off panel): "Mew!!" "Mweh!!"

p3 9am - I'm recovering today, because yesterday was "Operation Cross-Border Cat Rescue."

(Arrow indicating the two black cats: not these cats) MeiMei: "MWEH", Satsuki: "mew!" jam: holding two bowls of cat food "Breakfast, girls"

p4: jam sitting next to a SAD lamp eating oatmeal and drinking coffee, with MeiMei curled up next to them. Their phone bzzts with a text.

p5: The text from Arun sharing a picture of himself next to a black and white cat staring out the window (Arrow indicates: this cat)
Arun: He slept under the bed but he came out
Jam: nice

p6: 10am - jam is setting up to draw under their loft
p7: Call w/ Alina Alina: "hey! How'd it go yesterday?" jam: "omg"

p1: jam on the phone to Alina: "So Arun trapped Hamewlton as a stray kitten in California, and he raised him." (inset: 2021 Arun trapping a baby Hamewlton in a sweater)

p2: jam narrates: "After a decade living in the states, his H1B got interrupted in the tech layoffs. He was able to go to Canada, but it required him leaving Hamewlton in the care of his ex temporarily." inset: Arun giving Hamewlton to his ex in 2023

p3: Alina: "he must have missed Hamewlton so much!!" jam: "yeah, but even after 2 years of work he couldn't get the visa sorted out." Alina: "For sure, when a GREEN CARD is on the line, it's under extra scrutiny. And you can't risk messing it up!"

p4: jam: "But since I'm a dual citizen, I agreed to shepherd the cat across the border." (inset: the plan. The ex flies the cat from Cali to Washington. I pick the cat up and take it across the border and deliver it to Arun in BC!)

So YESTERDAY, Feb 7 (Saturday)

p5: 6am - jam wakes up and thinks "ok"
p6: jam showers and thinks "ok. ok. It'll be ok."
p7: jam feeds the rascals (two black cats)
p8: Arun joins jam on the couch. He wants you to know the coffee at this point is fictional but I added it for artistic effect.
p9: 7am - jam: "Time to get dressed..." p5: jam: "They GENERALLY treat you better at the border if you arrive clothed."

p1 8am (yesterday) - jam, today, talking on the phone to Alina. "So i drive down and of course it's PISSING rain" Alina: "ugh, yeah" (inset: jam's car in the atmospheric riverrr)

p2: jam, today on the phone with Alina
jam: "And I'm so nervous 'cause I heard they'll ask about politics now..."
(imagined border guard): "What's your opinion on Trump!? Who did you vote for??"
jam: "... or at least I was expecting the normal questions"
(imagined border guard): "How do you know this "friend"? Where did you meet?? Is this your car? What will you be doing down there??"

p3: meanwhile, in Reality, the actual border guard (bored): "Bringin' anything?"
p4: jam, extremely not suspicious, holding up a toy penguin. "L'il gift for my friend."
p5: border guard: "k. bye."

p6: 9am - Made it to Bellingham! - Jam, in the pouring rain, walking towards a hotel.
p7: Jam meets Arun's ex (A), who is wearing a mask because she is recovering from a cold. jam: "Nice to Meet You"
A: "Thanks for your help."

p8: in the hotel room, Hamewlton is crammed in a corner beside the bed. A and her new husband, R hand over the cat's paperwork.
jam: (to the cat) "Hey, big guy"
A: "He's pretty nervous, but I'll try to get him into the carrier."

p1: 9:30am yesterday - after some failed attempts to catch Hamewlton, he is shoved into the corner near the bed and hanging on for dear life.

p2: jam: (holding a towel) "mind if I try?"
A: "ok"

p3: jam DECISIVELY grabs Hamewlton.
jam: "C'mon bud"

p4: jam brings Hamewlton to the carrier.
jam: "carrier plz."

p5: jam is relieved. "A" motions to a huge orange duffel bag.
A: "Ok. we should take his stuff to the car first."

p6: (11am today, jam, on the phone with Alina:) "a GIANT, BRIGHT orange duffel--"
Alina: "Full of cat stuff?"
jam: "Full. Of Cat stuff."

p6: jam (yesterday), resigned.
jam: "... we gotta go through every item in that bag together."

p1: 10am yesterday - After tearful goodbyes, I head back north. "A" and her husband are embraced in the rain as jam drives away.

p2: Jam's car is lined up in the border queue
jam (11am today, in a phone call to Alina): "Based on everything I'd read, I figure I'm going into secondary inspection. So I choose the far-left lane."
Alina: "Sure, sure"

p3: Jam pulls up to the border.
guard: "Why aren't you in the Nexus lane?"
jam: "Because I'm importing a cat."

p4: guard: "Why didn't you go pick it up in California?"
jam: "ah, because TSA makes you take the cat out of the carrier and he doesn't know me." guard: "did you pay for the flight?"
jam: "No, she's just giving him to me."
guard: "huh?? why?"

p5: Jam: "She had a change in housing* so I'm adopting him as a favour. We're good friends."
\* this was a simplification
guard: "ohh ok."

p6: guard: hands back paperwork - "Alright, have a good day"
p7: jam (relieved, receiving paperwork. Giant Orange Duffel escapes without question)."... ok!! Thanks!!"

left margin panel 1: (11am today): jam and Alina end their phone call
p1 (11am yesterday): jam in the parking garage texting Aru
jam: "We're home, darling!"
Arun: "coming!!"

p2: Arun in the back seat looking at Hamewlton in the carrier. Hamewlton is staring back at him with sparkles in his eyes.
Arun: "He came to look when he heard my voice!! He remembers me!!"
jam: "I told you he would!"

left margin panel 2: (12pm today): jam eats rice cake and hummus
p3: (12pm yesterday) driving to Arun's place in the pouring rain.
Arun: "I wish it didn't have to be this way..."
p4: inside the car
Arun: "I wish I coulda gone for a month to get him used to me again. I wish she could've come up to see him settled."
p5: Driving past a burst water main in the street.
jam: "I know, darling, it won't be like this forever. We gotta just do our best with how things are." (looking at water main: geez laweez..)

left margin panel 3: (1pm today): jam ate a salad, and drew hourlies.

p6: (1pm yesterday): Cat is Home! Arun lets Hamewlton out of the bag and he zooms under the bed. Jam is carrying The Giant Orange Duffel (but it's not heavy).
p7: Find lunch. Jam and Arun are walking in the pouring rain, past a Japadog restaurant. Arun: "Can I buy you a 'Rollzy'? I really like that place."
p8: Jam only has eyes for Japadog. On their head are the rocks of "Meeting Arun's ex", "border Guards", "high stakes masking", "Driving in the rain", "catch a cat".
p9: jam and Arun standing in the rain jam: "Darling, I'd love to try a Rollzy, but if I don't eat a Japadog in 10m, I will die."

p1: 2pm yesterday - veggie Terimayo (Japadog)
p2: jam and Arun sit on the couch and eat Rollzy, it's like a... naan wrap.
jam: "mm!"
Arun: "Right? Great flavour."

p3: Arun makes us chai! Jam enjoys the Chai.

left margin panel 2: 3pm today - jam returns home with Bubble Tea and a library comic.

p4: 3pm yesterday - Jam and Arun take a short nap.
p5: Arun (texting): "They thought you were very tough getting him into the carrier.
Jam: "Aww. Ain't no thang." (inset: jam with one of their black cats who does NOT ever want to be held. She is hissing and thrashing violently)

left margin panel 3: 4pm today - jam draws. MeiMei wants dinner.
MeiMei: "Mwehh"
jam: "Not yet MeiMei"

p6: 4pm yesterday- Hamewlton is still hiding under the bed.
jam: "He won't come out while I'm here. I should head home."
p7: Jam and Arun hug.
Arun: "Thank you sooo much"
p8: Jam driving home in the pouring rain.

p1: 5pm - feeding rascals (both yesterday and today!)

p2: 6pm - today, dinner was pierogies and kimchi. Yesterday, a Samosa!

p3: 7pm - yesterday I got trapped in a heated blankie with two cats on me, and I watched Trigun and some Olympics clips.
Today I drew hourlies and watched game changer.

p4: 8pm to 10pm - Today: drawing hourlieshourlieshourlieshourlieshourlies

p5: Yesterday: did some Patreon work

p6: (both days) Got some updates from Arun.
p7: Today: Hamewlton is sleeping and looks very relaxed.
Arun: "The best kid"
p8: yesterday- Arun sends A selfie with Hamewlton snuggling.
Arun: "I'm so happy"

p9: 11pm today- jam yawns over their drawing board. "it was fun to weave two days together. Challenging!"

p10: (both days) jam sleeps!
