Saturday Hourly Comics Day - Feb 1 2025 by jam (a black and white comic) Page 1 p1: ???am - the Night Yowlies jam is in bed. An off-panel cat is yowling "myaooooo miaoo miao miaoooow". jam: "SATUSKI! just come upstairs" p2: jam in silhouette with the cat on their chest, purring. jam (thinking): "Weirdo..." (no idea why she does this) p3: 6:30am. jam is in bed with the other black cat fussing on them about breakfast ("mya! mya!"). They are listening to the radio. "Nobody knows WHEN tariffs are coming, WHERE they will be announced, WHAT will be affected or HOW..." jam (thinking): "what a gong show" p4: 7am: Feed Rascals Two black blobs (cats - Satsuki and Mei Mei) are sitting patiently on the ground. jam: "ready?" p5: jam is looking out the window. jam (thinking) "hm. No snow." jam (texting) "see u @ 10"
Jam Hourly Comics Day 2025 - Page 2 p1: 8am: Tea, Radio and Hourlies... jam, looking at a tiny pencil. jam (thinking) "I gotta have another non-photo blue somewhere..." A drawing of a longer pencil indicates: "found one!" p2: News: They won't cull 400 ostriches for bird flu today. jam (exasperated): "thank GOD" there is a little drawing of the ostriches. p3: 9am - jam is getting dressed for the day. Red sends me a photo of coffee cherries he grew. p4: jam driving downtown (30m) jam is looking angrily out the window at SNOW p5: jam walking 20m to Café Marilulu p6: 10am - Brek w/ Dan They are eating OMURICE! I can actually eat!!! (no meat) p7: Hot Choccy: Elysian "Cheeky Cherry" jam: (I skipped this one). Dan is holding the drink and looks quite happy with it. It has a mountain of whipped cream and cherry sauce on top and is accompanied by a little biscotti.
Jam Hourly Comics Day 2025 - Page 3 11-2 We're doing HOT CHOCOLATE FEST - When shops compete to make the most outlandish drinks. p1: jam and Dan are walking down the street 15m. Dan: "So... do you exist?" jam: "That's what they tell me" p2: At the Federal Store, two hot chocolates - "squirrel girl" which is Peanut Butter and Hojicha, and "Green Fairy" which is pistachio butter and lemon simple syrup. Accompanied by two cupcakes. p3: At Parallel 49 - Caramel Early Grey hot chocolate + donut. p4: Forgot my scarf @ Fed Store >_< (they run back to retrieve it) p5: driving 20m to river district. jam: "X1999 is like poetry..." p6: "Postcards from Vietnam Pandan White hot Chocolate" which has a toasted meringue on the rim. The receipt taped to it got singed (lol). It is accompanied by little shortbread cookies. jam and Dan sitting on tiny stools. jam: "very sweet" p6: driving home / to train (for Dan).
Jam Hourly Comics Day 2025 - page 4 p1: 2-5pm - Colour and Light class w/ Kat Tsai! jam is watching a class on zoom, Kat is doing a value demo featuring a vase of flowers. Learning about VALUE... * Notan vs. Chiaroscuro * Exposure * Major and Minor "keys" p2: cats are being fussy... MeiMei (playing with a string toy): "I want attention!" Satsuki: "Nyaaaaaaaaaaa" (I want dinner!) an' they both want cuddles.... p3: 6-7pm. jam is walking down a steep hill towards the train, two beers in tow. "back out - Pick up beers & head to Alina & Layne's for Hot Pot"
Jam Hourly Comics Day 2025 - page 5 p1: 7-8p - Layne & Alina & Dan is here too jam is greeted at the door by Alina and Layne. jam: "Happy trade war...!" Alina: "Happy trade war..." p2: jam hands Dan a copy of X1999 jam: "Here, look, it's the best." Dan: "oh?" p3: 8-9pm (Belated) Lunar New Year Hot Pot! They are all gathered at the table eating from two large bowls of soup, one is vegetarian and one is full of meat. Alina (to Layne/Dan): "You're an Ox right? It says you should meet new people with a common interest." jam: "... like at a riot." Alina: "and have good communication" jam: "... during the riots". (Layne and Dan are born year of the Ox, Alina is year of the boar, and jam is year of the rat)
Jam Hourly Comics Day 2025 - page 6 p1: 9-10pm jam and Alina are on the couch drawing. Layne (offpanel): "You two drawin' hourlies??" Alina: "We gotta!" jam: "or they'll throw us in comix jail." p2: Dan makes a nice sponge cake for dessert. p3: 10pm - I ask Layne to explain Changeling (a tabletop rpg like DnD). Layne is explaining it, thoroughly. p4: jam (slumped over the back of the couch) "i'm sleppy" Layne (bonks them softly on the head) "Go! To! Bed!" p5: Gathered at the door, saying goodbye. Alina: "May the Odds be Ever in your Favour" p5: 11pm, jam is trudging back up the hill after having taken the train back.
Jam Hourly Comics Day 2025 - page 7 p1: 11:30pm jam is rushing to finish up hourlies. The two black cats are gathered... they want to go to bed. jam: I did a lot today! More than usual... but it was fun. p2: jam (in bed, throwing away hourly materials): an' tomorrow I WILL SLEEP!!!!!!! Thx for reading!!!!!!!!
